A Letter To Our Supporters

Dear Friends, I am reaching out to you to share updates about the Morgan Conservatory's recent leadership change, the effects of COVID-19 on our current operations, and our plans for a limited reopening.

In March, when COVID-19 struck, we were faced with the difficult but necessary decision to close our doors and begin working remotely. We also reduced staff hours and canceled all programming throughout the summer. Additionally, in August, our Executive Director notified the Board that she was resigning.

As many of you know, I was the Interim Executive Director of the Morgan from September 2017 to August 2019. During that period, I learned to love the Morgan, its mission, and its staff. Therefore, when I was asked by the Morgan's Board to consider returning to lead the organization through these unusual times and to craft a reopening plan, I happily accepted the challenge.

Over the past few weeks, the staff has engaged in lively conversations that have resulted in new ideas and plans for creating an enhanced online presence, launching exhibits and programs within safety guidelines, and more. I am happy to report to you that we will soon be reopening in three stages, each of which we are excited to share with you.

Stage one - The Virtual Morgan: Over the next month, we will be posting on our website and other social media platforms.

• "We're Back Videos" Informative videos focused on our studio spaces and equipment,

• Full-length demos of content by nationally recognized artists, and,

• Live-streaming workshops and artist talks.

Stage Two - Launch an expanded online store: Members, artists, and friends will soon be able to purchase a wide variety of papers and other art supplies needed to complete their art projects. Enhancing the online store means that while we are closed to the public, you can still find the materials you need to start and complete your projects.

Stage Three - Reopening of our Gallery: The celebrated National Juried Show will be installed and ready for a controlled social distancing viewing.

So, despite the challenges we are all still experiencing during this pandemic, be assured that those working at the Morgan are excited about the virtual opportunities to stay in touch with all of you in meaningful ways.
