Papermaking Marathon

The Morgan Conservatory has been busily renovating our papermaking studios and we are putting the new space to the ultimate test this July — a Morgan Papermaking Marathon with 24 papermakers pulling sheets of paper for 24 hours in 2024!

You're invited to the Marathon Pre-Game Party, kicking off Friday July 12th at 4:30pm, and we need cheerers, hand-clappers, cow bell ringers, and sideline coaches to motivate our teams! The party takes a pause at 11pm, but papermaking continues all the way through the night until 5:00pm on Saturday. Join us at the Pre-Game Party with food, drinks, and music, and then help us close out the event on Saturday afternoon and evening, as we hand out awards, trophies, and take team photos starting at 5pm.

The Morgan Papermaking Marathon is a fundraising event where we hope each team can hit a fundraising target of $2400. The Morgan's overall goal is $24,000 (in keeping with our 24 theme). It is a $0 commitment to participate, and we recognize that not everyone has money to give, but we hope you’ll encourage supporters (friends, family, colleagues) to spread the word and promote your participation on social media.

• $50 Smells Like Team Spirit sponsors customized t-shirts for a team of three.
• $100 Snack Attack gets deluxe snacks for the team.

Match Funding

Corporate Sponsorships

Local businesses will often contribute support for a local nonprofit fundraising event.

• $100 Sponsors one Introductory Workshop in papermaking, paper marbling, book binding, or letterpress.
• $250 Sponsors a full scholarship towards our Advanced Workshops with the country's leading instructors.
• $350  Gifts a group of seniors or students a 1-hour workshop in papermaking or paper marbling.
• $500  Gives K-12 students a 2-hour workshop in papermaking and complete tour of our studios and garden.
• $1,000  Supports the project needs of one of our Artists in Residence and their artist lecture or workshop.
• $2,400  Supports the completion of studio renovations in the key areas of papermaking and printmaking.

What Will We Do with All of This Paper?

The sheets made during our Marathon will go to designers and artists participating in the Fall Paper Fashion Show, Dress to IMPRESS - a night of exotic and wild paper fashions and wearable art.
