About

In this two-day workshop, students will be encouraged to go off the grid, think outside the box, and discover the amazing process of spinning paper into thread. Class participants will learn different ways to prep paper for spinning, methods of spinning, and the challenges faced when dealing with this process. Day two will continue with exploring ways spun paper can be used as an enhancement to creativity, with an emphasis on weaving on and off a loom. No prior experience required! Registration deadline: 2/24/24

Instructor Bio: Paula has been spinning and weaving paper for the past 5 years and has developed a spinning technique loosely based on the traditional Japanese practice. She thinks paper is magic and incorporates it into many of her art practices. Her studio is in her Cleveland Heights home.

Julie has been making paper and using it in non-traditional ways for close to 30 years, including wearable and non-wearable paper garments and other sculptural work. She maintains a studio where she lives in Coralville, Iowa.
