Exhibit Requirements:
The proposal must align with an element of the Morgan’s mission as stated below.
“Through teaching historical and innovative papermaking and the art of the book; and producing handmade papers – The Morgan educates, mentors, and inspires emerging and established artists, students, and community members to create”
In addition, the exhibition must contain at least 50% work on paper. Works included in the exhibition should be united under one theme; however, it is encouraged to expand outside of paper to include other mediums.
Exhibiting Artists will be expected to participate in community engagement in the form of a workshop, panel discussion, or other public programming.

Open Call for Curatorial/Group Exhibition Proposal
The Morgan Paper Conservatory is opening a call for Curatorial or Group Exhibition proposals for 2023-2024 on a rolling basis. This call is open to North East Ohio artists and curators. Emerging artists and curators are strongly encouraged to apply.
A curatorial proposal will include a curatorial statement to be displayed. The curator will be responsible for proposing a theme, selecting artists, and coordinating the display of artwork.
This type of proposal Is open to emerging and established art enthusiasts/historians. Please note that a curatorial proposal is different from a group exhibition proposal. The curator will not be an exhibiting artist.
A group exhibition includes the works of three or more artists that work in response to a theme; the individual submitting the proposal can be included in this group count.
Morgan Conservatory will provide the following

installation/installation assistance

insurance on works exhibited

an opening reception (including refreshments

open gallery hours
-
programming & staff support
-
marketing/promotional materials
The Morgan will retain 30% commission on any works sold in the exhibition.
The Gallery Map is included for consideration for your proposal. The gallery can support up to 60 mid-sized (22x30in) works. We have a variety of pedestals and shelves for any 3D work.
Please prepare the following materials for your proposal:
-a PDF with examples of the artist's work. Each artist should have 3-5 examples of their work. List artist name, title, dimensions, medium, year
-work must be made within the last 2 years
-works in the PDF do not necessarily have to be included in the final exhibit
-a description of the exhibition (theme, intention, curatorial question, etc). The description must be at least 5-8 sentences minimum
