ARTIST'S TALK |
|---|
Cristine Rom | Artists' Books: Re-defining a Familiar Object |
Date: Sunday, July 25, 2010
Time: 5:00pm - 6:00pm
Location: The Morgan Conservatory 1754 East 47th Street Cleveland, Ohio 44103
|
This talk will provide an historical overview and context of the artists' books movement, using examples from the Cleveland Institute of Art's nationally recognized collection of books made by artists.
Cristine Rom joined the Cleveland Institute of Art library staff in 1981 and became Gund Library Director in 1984. Previously, she was the Rare Book Librarian at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she curated a large collection of avant-garde poetry “little magazines” and small press publications. She has published widely on alternative publications. She has a master’s in library science from the University of Wisconsin and an MA in American Studies from Case Western Reserve University.
Cris developed the Institute’s artists’ books collection and hopes this talk will encourage you think about “the book” and its role in contemporary art.
This event is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. |
